We shouldn't really call these things tree seeds.
They contain the seeds but are more properly known as fruits with the smaller seeds inside.
We think of autumn as the time for mellow fruitfulness
but although not ripe, the fruits are already forming.
Sycamore helicopters
Ash keys
Hornbeam catkins
And spectacular lime tree flowers beloved of bees . . .
. . . with the pea-sized fruits forming behind.
