A colleague of mine and his wife (pictured) were out for a walk recently in a Sussex wood when they came across a rather bold squirrel.

Not only was it relatively tame but completely white.
Apparently these are not so very rare - 200 sightings have been sent to the website created by a researcher called Claire. There was also a brief feature on BBC 'Countryfile' in December.
You would think they would be knocked off by predators because they are so easy to see but apparently they are helped to survive (a) by people feeding them, which (b) brings them to public places like parks, where predatory species are less common.
