BURDOCK

We mostly recognise Burdock by the seedheads called burrs, which can be thrown at your friends' woolly jumpers, where they stick.  This is really the plant's way of spreading its seeds.

But before they become burrs the flowers are quite striking.

Earlier in the year you may have wondered what those enormous leaves were, and now that the leaf miners have been at work the leaves may display the art work caused by little moth grubs eating their way between the top and bottom layers of the leaf to make these mysterious patterns.
