Not immediately obvious why I included this image.
It's the last few traces of a dead mouse, courtesy of Polo, our murderous house cat.
But fortunately some Green Bottle flies came to clear everything up.
No doubt many of you will find this distasteful but thank goodness there are creatures that remove unpleasant stuff for us. I'm thinking also of dung beetles whose larvae dispose of cowpats, and sexton beetles who bury dead animals and birds in the course of a night. And don't get me on wasps. They are amazing creatures in their own right but they remove loads of garden pests to feed their baby sisters. What may seem like unpleasant creatures are all part of the great web.
