This maple tree by the health centre had a lot of stuff in the branches
A closer look showed that it was catkins,
the male flowers which so many trees have at this time of year.
Here's a close up, showing that even without petals, tree flowers are beautiful.
Poplar trees are also laden with catkins in spring and here below are some white poplar catkins near the former Thornbury Hospital - now residential, and historically the workhouse.
