UNOBTRUSIVES: 7. WIND FLOWER


The Wood Anemone or Windflower can make a fine display when it has spread into a large patch, but is easy to miss.  You may spot the distinctively shaped leaves first. 


In fact that may be all that is left.  The flowers may have gone.  There are so many things at the moment that I can't keep up, even with a blog post every day.

  

This is definitely a woodland plant, taking advantage of the light 
before the tree canopy closes over.

 

We did have some wood anemones at Filnore but I haven't seen them this year.  These were in Sheepcombe Brake, near Lower Hazel.

UPDATE:  and here is a nice little patch alobngside the path from the Mundys to the Golf Centre. taken 26th April.  The other pics were taken 23rd March and I thought they were nearly over.
