A yellow tinge on pussy willow trees shows the male catkins with their load of pollen
Pussy willows or sallows can be either Grey Willow (Salix cinerea) or Goat Willow (Salix caprea) OR a hybrid between the two.
The male catkins are more conspicuous because of the pollen but they soon fall to the ground,
while the female catkins, on separate trees, continue to develop into seeds.

The yellow catkins contrast with the green of the emerging leaves.
