URBAN WILDLIFE

It's so easy to overlook small beauties in the urban landscape.  I nearly missed this little ensemble at the foot of a lamp post near Tesco.


As well as the obvious Dandelions and Annual Meadow Grass . . .


. . . there was Storksbill in flower . . . 


. . . Chickweed (Stellaria sp). . . 


each flower with its five double petals


. . . and, not yet in flower, Mouse Ear (Cerastium sp), which is very like chickweed but the leaves are hairy, like a mouse's ear, and the flower stalks are more erect than the sprawling chickweed.  

Sorry, I didn't get the mouse ear in focus - a rather hairy photo.

  

A miniature flower bed in an unlikely position.   Nature fighting back.
